With this, the authorities are getting ready to refuse or cancel temporary residence documents including eTAs, TRVs, work permits and student visas. The new rules will allow those coming to Canada to cancel visas if they think that they will stay there after the permit expires. As per the reports, tens of thousands of Indian students and workers are facing visa cancellation threat.There are a total of 4.2 lakh Indian students in Canada.Canada is also among the top countries hosting Indian immigrants. Now, with the latest rules, if their visas are rejected at the port of entry, they will have to return home immediately. Also, if the permit is canceled while in Canada, a notice will be issued to leave the country. The government has not given any clarity on the refunds of fees, loans, mortgages, and rents already paid by such victims. Tourists are being hit hard . Canada's latest visa rules will also affect Indian tourists. In the first six months of last year, Canada issued 3.6 lakh travel visas to Indians. In the same period in 2023, 3.4 lakh Indian tourists visited Canada. Some of them were also given temporary permits. On the other hand, Canada has stopped the Student Direct Stream Visa Program.
